This guide will introduce early intervention professionals to the statewide interpretation service available when there are no credentialled early intervention interpreters available and a family communicates in a language other than English. This collection of information including downloadable PDFs, online videos and web resources are available to assist early intervention service coordinators and other Child & Family Connections (CFCs) staff and early intervention providers.
The EI Clearinghouse is pleased partner with Language Line Services, Inc. to provide digital on-demand interpretation services for the Illinois Early Intervention System. This temporary, backup solution will assist Child & Family Connections staff and early intervention providers when an Illinois early intervention credentialled interpreter is not available. This digital video interpretation and/or audio interpretation is available for early intervention service appointments between families, service providers, and CFC staff until an EI enrolled interpreter becomes available. The EI Clearinghouse staff will monitor this program to ensure early intervention staff are able to secure appointments with interpreters for needed languages. If you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah Isaacs, isaacs@illinois.edu.
This service is intended for Child & Family Connections staff and early intervention providers working with families who communicate using a language other than English.
