Illinois EI Services COVID-19 Family Update

By Dr. Meghan Burke

We hope that you and your family are doing well especially as the holidays near. This is an update from the Early Intervention Clearinghouse (EIC) about early intervention (EI) during the pandemic.

In-person Visits

It continues to be strongly recommended that everyone (providers, service coordinators and families) continue wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining physical distance. To continue to lessen risk, it is also encouraged that services are provided in well-ventilated indoor spaces and that toys are not brought into family homes.

Options for EI service modalities

You may choose to receive EI services through in-person services, live video visits and/or phone consultations. To learn more about your options, see:

Borrowing technology for live video visits

If you need technology (e.g., a hotspot, an iPad) for live video visits, please contact us at the EIC: https://eiclearinghouse.org/resources/techloan/

For ongoing system wide updates from the Bureau of Early Intervention services, see COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information and Resources on the EI Provider Connections Website. We will continue to update you about important changes in early intervention services for families.
