Spring Newsletter Focuses on Successful Mealtimes with Babies and Toddlers

Cute baby girl eating food by herself,

The Spring 2023 edition of the Early Intervention Clearinghouse newsletter is available on our website in English and Spanish. This edition is jam-packed with useful information for families tackling transition to solid foods and healthy eating for young children. We are excited to collaborate with early intervention speech pathologist and feeding specialist, Stephanie Cohen, in this issue. Our main article explains the mealtime approach of responsive feeding for families with babies and toddlers. A special video message from Stephanie shares tips for a successful transition to solid foods. In addition we have partnered with Leia from the University of Illinois Extension to offer a brief article on introducing new foods to young children including three tasty, easy family recipes. Also provided is a collection of book and resource recommendations for healthy eating, meal planning, and feeding challenges available from the clearinghouse library.

This newsletter highlights a great tip sheet for families from the Chicago Feeding Group titled Responsive Feeding Young Children which explains this valuable mealtime approach for families looking to reduce mealtime stress and increase enjoyment at the table.
